Sleepy Sporran Tours - Terms and Conditions

1.0 General

Sleepy Sporran Tours ‘the Company’, ‘we’ is the trading name of SimpsonBell Limited - Company Registration No 03917047 - established in 2000.

All bookings and tours carried out by Sleepy Sporran Tours are done so on the basis of these conditions and the tour booking e-mails and correspondence issued by the company for each individual tour.

Within these conditions ‘Client ‘, ‘you’ means the person making the booking and covers the individual and all members of their group.

None of the company’s terms and conditions are intended to contravene your statutory rights under current legislation.

Every effort is made to keep our marketing material and website up to date with both information and prices but we reserve the right to correct errors and make the corresponding changes in the event of isolated occurrences.

2.0 Covid 19 Additional Measures

Sleepy Sporran Tours offers tours in compliance with relevant guidance and restrictions as set out by the Scottish Government in the control and management of the Covid-19 virus, current at the time of the tour.  All tours will operate in accordance with our risk assessments and hygiene procedures to limit identified risks wherever possible.  All Clients are expected to comply with guidance and instructions given by our staff on tours.

3.0 Tour Pick Up, Timings and Alterations

Tour itineraries allow for collection and return from either the Client’s hotel or other agreed collection point.

All tours durations are for the days noted in the agreed tour itinerary; all mileages and timings stated in the itineraries are for guidance and are based on normal open road travel from the daily tour start point. The order of stated tour landmarks may also vary depending on the route direction of the tour.

We reserve the right in exceptional circumstances (eg adverse weather, safety issues, road accidents /diversions or long delays) to alter the tour route, if necessary.  In the unlikely event that the regular tour vehicle is not available we reserve the right to supply an alternative vehicle of similar specification, or in exceptional circumstances cancel the tour.

4.0 Tour Catering

Sleepy Sporran Tours do not prepare all of the catering directly but purchase certain food and drinks from reputable local suppliers and artisan caterers. (list available if requested).

Special requests in respect of dietary requirements can be arranged and reasonable requests are accommodated, provided the Client advises the Company at the time of booking the tour.  In some cases it may not be possible to meet the requested requirements.

The intent of single Day Tours is that lunch is served ‘al fresco’ as a picnic.  In the event of poor weather on single Day Tours we offer alternative arrangements using bistro’s and hotels on the tour route.  In such cases it should be positle to advise of this arrangement at the start of the tour.

For Multi Day Tours lunch catering would normally be based on selected bistros / restaurants / hotels as proposed at the tour itinerary planning).

5.0 Our Prices

We offer an inclusive price for all of our tours, which includes the tour transport, a tour information pack, specified catering and admission charges to the visitor attractions visited on a tour, as agreed at the itinerary approval stage.

Please note that the extent of the ‘visitor attraction’ visits, are as described on the tour details, but may vary depending on the specific tour.  For example due to the overall tour time allocation, on one tour the visit may (as stated) include a guided tour of a property whereas on another tour to the same property the visit may be for grounds access only.

6.0 Tour Bookings and Payment

Enquiries regarding tour details or to check availability can be made via the website, tour enquiry page www.sleepysporran.co.uk , or by e-mail to tours@sleepysporran.co.uk .  We expect to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.

The normal booking process is as follows;

  1. The Client enquiry is received and tour type, date and places are assessed for availability
  2. If the tour date is available with the requested number of places an e-mail confirming a booking reservation will be sent to the Client. Normally this is within 24 hours of receipt.
  3. The itinerary planning process and dialogue with the Client will then follow to establish an agreed itinerary and tour prices. Once agreed,  payment in full will be requested to secure the tour and reserved dates. When tours are booked several months in advance the payment request date may be varied to reflect the advance booking.
  4. Payment through Worldpay provides the `client with a record of the transaction. Following payment Sleepy Sporran Tours will issue a separate receipt and booking confirmation to the Client.
  5. Payment for tours is, unless agreed otherwise, to be made at the time of booking. Payments can be made via a secure e-mail pay link (Worldpay), or by BACS. All tour prices and payments are in UK sterling.

In the event that we have to cancel a confirmed and paid for tour, then the Client will be offered a choice of an alternative date or a full refund of the tour price.

In the event that the Client decides to cancel a booked and paid for tour then the following will apply;

  1. If we have been notified at least 48 hours before cancellation - full refund
  2. If we are notified at less than 48 hours notice - refund of tour amount less £15 per person booked. (Illness that prevents travel or unforeseen reasons are excepted)

7.0 Tour Restrictions

We operate a strict no smoking policy on the tour transport, which includes e-cigarettes. 

We regret we do not carry children under the age of 5 on any of our tours.

Our tour transport is set up to seat a maximum of 4 ambulant people.  If anyone in your booking group have any disability or medical condition that affects mobility or the ability to travel, this should be advised to us at the time of the itinerary planning, in order that we can advise on tour and transport suitability.  If we have not been notified in advance and discussed the condition with the Client we may have to exclude the person(s) from the tour.

We reserve the right to refuse to carry any person whose conduct or medical symptoms could cause offence  or ill health to other passengers or our personnel.

In respect of all tours we reserve the right to refuse bookings if we consider the requested route or places to visit or purpose of the tour is in our considered opinion, inappropriate or could involve unacceptable risk to our vehicle or personnel.  Our decision in such circumstances is final.

8.0 Insurance

The Company maintains valid insurances for the purposes of its business but we would recommend that Clients arrange their own appropriate personal travel and medical insurance to include appropriate cover for personal possessions, money, iPads, phones, cameras etc.

9.0 Data Protection

We confirm that we will not use any personal or financial data given by you, in the process of booking a tour or making a payment, for any other purpose and will not release any of that information to any third party not directly involved in that booking.

Financial details provided by you for payments are all processed through secure portals operated by Worldpay and any information provided is entered directly into the Wordplay system.  We do not receive or hold any of your financial details provided in the payment transaction.

10.0 Liability of our Suppliers

The company cannot accept any liability for products or services provided by independent suppliers, where their own conditions of supply are applicable.

We will not be responsible or liable for any loss, damage or claim that results from;

  • unforeseen or avoidable circumstances beyond our control
  • any act or omission or default by any of our independent suppliers
  • any act or omission by the Client

11 Feedback and Complaints

All feedback and comments are welcome and should be directed to  tours@sleepysporran.co.uk  

If you have reason to complain about any aspect of your tour and it has not been resolved to your satisfaction on the day the complaint is raised, then please contact us on 01250 884 772. (This is a messaging service and will ask for your contact details so that we can call you back).

12 Governing Law

The governing law and jurisdiction of these terms and conditions shall be the law and courts of the United Kingdom.
